BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) is an initiative by Indian Government to enable fast, secure, reliable cashless payments through your mobile phone and make the publish #GoCashlessIndia
BHIM version 1.0 is available in iOS and Android playstore and can be registered with any UPI supported bank using your registered mobile number.
This app required at least 4.1 and up version of Android OS to get installed.
Once installed you need to enroll using your banks registered mobile number by OTP authorization. To authorize the number the app sends and sms (STD) and it may incur some sms charges according to the operator rates and plan subscribed and this is a one time verification.
Once the OTP authorization is completed you need to register a 4 digit pass-code, which you need to enter every time you logins to the app.
Also you need to authorize your bank using your debit card last six – digits and expiry date. You are then required to register a 6 or 4 digit pin number which is needed to perform all future transactions using the app like – Balance check, send money, etc.
At some time you may not receive the OTP due to downtime with the bank server, so you may need to activate the same after some moment and it should work else raise a concern.
There are lots of fake apps garbage up in play store after the announcement by Mr Prime Minister. You make sure that you download the genuine app to be secure. The app is of less than 2 MB size and has already reached 31 K installations in just 24 hours and is rated at 4.4 stars at Google Play Store.
You can also switch between bank accounts by logging out from old account and login to a new already registered account.
You will get a registered UPI ID after successful registration like mobilenumber@upi as the primary address. You can also register another address with your name and set as the primary address to send and receive money.
